Holiday Matinee: The Million Dollar Theatre & "Miracle on 34th Street" on December 4th

thumbnailimageI have holiday favorites, one is fairly stereotypical.  My favorite holiday movie is Miracle on 34th Street (it's tied with White Christmas).  There's just something about the movie's focus on believing that cheers me up every time.  My next holiday favorite is not quite so typical - though there are times I wish it was, but perhaps it would then not feel so special.

Every year I love attending the Los Angeles Conservancy's holiday matinee which will feature Miracle on 34th Street this year.  The film will be shown in a holiday matinee at 2pm on December 4th 2011 at the Million Dollar Theatre built by Sid Grauman in 1918.  The theatre features Spanish Baroque interior and ornate terra-cotta sculptures.  Try finding that at a theatre near you!

The experience of an historic movie palace is something that everyone should be able to have - the richness of beautiful architecture alongside a classic film is a rare gift.  At $15 for general public, $10 Conservancy members, and $5 for children 12 and under - it's also a pretty affordable gift.  So if you're looking to jumpstart your December adventures, packing in the warmth and rush of holiday experiences, I highly recommend this be added to the start of your list.
