Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken Restaurants to Promote IRIS on Cirque du Soleil Day LA

Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken and their 25 Year Old City Cuisine Cookbook

Thursday, June 16, 2011, is Cirque du Soleil Day in LA, and you can celebrate at Susan Feniger's STREET and the Border Grill restaurants in Santa Monica and Downtown Los Angeles that are co-owned with Mary Sue Milliken. Each of them are creating a special Cirque-themed menu that help to celebrate the upcoming opening of IRIS, A Journey Through The World of Cinema at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. The picture above was taken at an LA Central Library ALOUD book panel almost five years ago, and it is our copy of a heavily used cookbook that these two Top Chef Master competitors published back in 1989 celebrating the cooking of City Cafe that opened in 1981 and City Restaurant that opened in 1985. Thus, its been 30 years of the Two Hot Tamales in Los Angeles.

The CirqueDayLA promotion for lunch and dinner at STREET is:

Susan Feniger’s STREET has created an exotic tasting menu in honor of Cirque du Soleil. This menu reflects the culture of Cirque du Soleil, including its fans and the worldwide group of creators who make Cirque du Soleil all that it is. Head to Susan Feniger’s STREET for a truly eclectic experience right in the heart of Hollywood. Celebrate with a five course menu at $35 per person, with beers or wine paired for an additional $15.

The CirqueDayLA promotion for dinner at Border Grill is:

Border Grill is celebrating Cirque du Soleil® on both sides of town. Chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger invite you to come to the Downtown LA or Santa Monica locations for a 3-course, modern Mexican dinner for only $35 per person, including one of their famous Border Margaritas.

Watch the ExperienceLA Facebook and Twitter feeds for us celebrating at these two restaurants on Thursday June 16, 2011 day using the hashtag of #CirqueDayLA on Twitter. Check in on Four Square that day (and posting the CirqueDayLA hashtag) at any of the participating locations as listed on the official website will enter one into a drawing for Cirque du Soleil Day prizes. See the official Cirque du Soleil Day website for more details or the prior ExperienceLA blog posting for the event.

And if you are going into Border Grill on Thursday night, you will know whether Mary Sue Milliken has won this season's Top Chef Masters competition from the night before on Bravo TV.
