Dance Video Challenge #2: Zydeco

Thanks to everyone who made it out to Friday night's Dance Downtown Bhangra & Bollywood event at the Music Center. If you missed the chance to enter our Dance Downtown Video Challenge for this style, you're in luck! We've got two more opportunities for you to win tickets to an upcoming dance performance at the Music Center, donated by Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at the Music Center.

The next dance style in our video challenge is "Zydeco." Zydeco is the upbeat, fun, Creole two-step dance originating from Southwest Louisiana.

Dance Downtown Video Challenge Instructions: Zydeco

1. Watch the instructional video and learn the moves (see below or click here).
2. Recreate the choreography from the instructional video, or create your own choreography from what you just learned and/or what you already know (for those of you already familiar with Zydeco, feel free to get original!).
3. Send us a video of your choreography. Videos should be no more than 60 seconds long (be sure you have permission to use music). Acceptable formats include mv4, wmv, mov, avi, and mpeg. Email your video entry to 'staff @ experiencela.com' (do not include spaces in actual email address) with the subject line "Dance Downtown."
4. Include in your email entry your FULL NAME and PHONE NUMBER.
5.  Confirm that you agree your video may be used for future promotional purposes.
6. Entries for 'Zydeco' must be received by the deadline of 12PM on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Late entries will not be accepted.
7. Email 'staff @ experiencela.com' with any questions.

One winner will be randomly selected and notified. The winner will receive a pair of tickets to a select performance of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at the Music Center 2010/2011 season. Choose from:

• Grupo Corpo - Friday, January 28, 2011, 7:30PM
• Nederlands Dans Theater - Wednesday, March 23, 2011, 7:30PM
• Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater - Wednesday, April 13, 2011, 7:30PM
• Mark Morris Dance Group - Friday, May 6, 2011, 7:30PM 

Once you've submitted your entry, come join us at Zydeco night on Friday, July 30 at 6:30PM on the Music Center Plaza for some free dancing, and to see the winning entry announced. All skill levels are welcome. Be sure to also join us on Friday, July 16 at 6:30PM for some South American dance, when you can learn Argentine Tango!
