Our friends at the Pantages Theatre let us know that today is World Puppetry Day! So, how best to celebrate then by looking at our events calendar for puppet-related events? While there are events for kids, the humor and magic of puppetry comes to life in shows for all kinds of ages!

In addition to Easter events like treasure hunts, Easter baskets treats, and Easter bunny photos, this festival also offers face painting, mural coloring, and a marionette puppet show! Uncle Gus Puppet Carnival occurs at 10:30AM, NOON, and 2PM and is presented by Pullin Strings Puppet Productions of Huntington Beach.

In this second annual event, the Skirball hosts a festival of art making, close-up puppet happenings, and a host of puppet performances "sure to delight visitors ages 2 to 102". The event brings together some of Southern California's most talented puppeteers and artists.

The Rogue Artists Ensemble combines multimedia projects with puppetry, movement, live audio-sampling, and Greek Masks as they explore "how a flamboyant heterosexual avant-garde Parisian novelist successfully impersonated a lesbian Greek poet in the most elaborate erotic literary hoax the world has ever known".

This musical features 29 original songs and "pays homage to all things male" including fatherhood, mid-life crisis, dating and marriage. Puppetry is used to fill out the "zany characters". Originally premiering in Florida in 2012, this is the West Coast premiere of the show.
