Celebrate the Grand Opening of LA Plaza

Los Angeles has always celebrated a rich history of Mexican American culture, but starting this month, a new cultural center will open to serve as its national center - and you can be there!  Opening on April 16th 2011, La Plaza de Cultura y Artes will open its doors from 10am to 4pm for a day-long family celebration.  This FREE event is being made possible by Target.

Visitors will enjoy live music, arts workshops, discounted memberships, and tour of the major exhibition LA Starts Here!  Performers will include Los Angeles vallenato favorites VeryBeCareful, tropicalia soul masters Chicano Batman, and East L.A. fusion rockers Ollin. Mask-making, sculpture, paint, and print-making workshops will be conducted by Inner City Arts and LA Art Lab. Tickets for April 16 Grand Opening events are free and timed, but must be reserved in advance through or by calling 213-542-6254.
