Dance Downtown Zydeco and ExperienceLA's Final Dance Video Challenge: 60s Dances

We've been rather fortunate this summer in LA. The weather (so far) has been relatively comfortable, and the evenings nearly downright perfect. So what better way to enjoy the last Friday of July 2010 than dancing under the stars at the Active Arts at the Music Center's Dance Downtown series, where the featured dance style is Zydeco? I know it's where I'll be. Zydeco was also the subject of our latest video contest for July.

Dance Downtown Video Challenge Instructions: 60s Dances

1. Watch the instructional video and learn the moves (see below or click here).
2. Recreate the choreography from the instructional video, or create your own choreography from what you just learned and/or what you already know (hint: have some fun!).
3. Send us a video of your choreography. Videos should be no more than 60 seconds long (be sure you have permission to use music). Acceptable formats include mv4, wmv, mov, avi, and mpeg. Email your video entry to 'staff @ experiencela.com' (do not include spaces in actual email address) with the subject line "Dance Downtown."
4. Include in your email entry your FULL NAME and PHONE NUMBER.
5.  Confirm that you agree your video may be used for future promotional purposes.
6. Entries for '60s Dances' must be received by the deadline of 12PM on Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Late entries will not be accepted.
7. Email 'staff @ experiencela.com' with any questions.

One winner will be randomly selected and notified. The winner will receive a pair of tickets to a select performance of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at the Music Center 2010/2011 season. Choose from:

• Grupo Corpo - Friday, January 28, 2011, 7:30PM
• Nederlands Dans Theater - Wednesday, March 23, 2011, 7:30PM
• Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater - Wednesday, April 13, 2011, 7:30PM
• Mark Morris Dance Group - Friday, May 6, 2011, 7:30PM 

Once you've submitted your entry, come join us on the Music Center Plaza for some free dancing. All skill levels are welcome. There are only four more evenings left in the season, so plan ahead. The event is on a first come, first serve basis, so get there early to save yourself a spot!
