There's always so much going on at San Diego Comic-Con that it's often difficult to remember how much goes on outside the convention walls!  Some of the most interesting sights at this year's 2013 SDCC was quite literally outside.

If you were willing to brave the crowds with badges into the convention, or perhaps when things died down a little and you wanted a leisurely evening stroll (like I did for most of these photos), there were some great sights to be seen outside of the convention center.

It was hard not to miss the 2-3 stories tall Teen Titans Go! balloons propped up immediately next to the lawn of the convention center (I'm pretty sure they were widely seen by those waiting outside in the Hall H line).  While impressive during the day, at night they lights gave these figures a beautiful and color glow, making them come almost to life.

Speaking of "almost to life", nearby these impressive figures were something equally geeky: Lego Figures.  But not just any lego figures, life-size ones from the Batman franchise including Batman himself, Robin, and the Joker.  And not to be beat, there was another life-size Lego set-up that was sure to make all Lord of the Rings fans gleeful: a replica of Bilbo Baggins' house!

And not to be out done, a short walk at the marina unveils a perfectly fitting view of a waterfront for Comic-Con.  A beautiful pirate ship from Ubisoft to promtoe their Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag video game release.  I wasn't able to take part in the fun activities, but apparently there were activities on every deck of the ship as well as pirate character actors.
