Disney's Oceans at the El Capitan

Sometimes the best thing about being a grown-up is the ability to choose to be a kid again.  While there are a lot of movie options out there, one of my favorite places to head out to is the El Capitan Theatre where movies often feature a kid-friendly opening show and, of course, the theatre itself is a representative of glamorous Hollywood history (See my previous post about LA's Historic Movie Palaces).  My venture out to the theatre with friends last night for Disney's Oceans proved to be no exception.  Who knew historic theatres could also include an animal show?

This DisneyNature film, which opened appropriately on Earth Day, explores the creatures of the ocean from around the world, exploring animals familiar, mysterious, and rare.  Before the show, there was a showcase of small animals and an audience Q&A.  It was the perfect opening for the film and a great learning experience for everyone.  This movie experience at the El Capitan is a great adventure for people of all ages and the ultimate lessons of Oceans is something we could all use a moment to take in - that while we might not live in the ocean, there are other creatures that are affected by our actions on land.

Disney's Oceans runs at the El Capitan until May 23rd.
